bulletThe Thomas Family Ministry began some 30 years ago, when upon graduation from Toccoa Falls Bible College, Toccoa, GA...Rod and Barb began their first pastoral ministry.    However, the music ministry of the Thomas Famly goes back much futher, for Rod grew up in a parsonage with his brother Phil and sister Darla, and singing was a big part of their family and lives.  Their family sang in their home church as the kids grew up.
bullet
bulletAfter high school graduation Rod and Barb got married and went to Toccoa Falls Bible College.   During those years they formed a group they called The Sojourners Trio  and sang throughout the college years in Georgia and South Carolina.  Their senior year at Toccoa they became a duet and traveled with  a fellow student who was an up-coming evangelist, Larry Brown of North Augusta SC.  The three held services with Larry preaching and Rod and Barb singing all across Georgia in the early 70's.

bulletUpon college graduation, Rod and Barb began what would become a pastoral ministry for some 18 years...pastoring churches in -Huntington, Indiana; -Bellefontaine, Ohio and Claysburg, Pennsylvania.  Throughout that time, they did many  Revival Services with Rod's parents,  Rev. & Mrs. Carl Thomas, at various churches around the country. During those pastoral years, music continued to play a large role in their home and ministry.  Their two children, Tim and Tiffany began to take part in the singing and eventually playing of instruments.  The music ministry continued to grow in their hearts and lives and in January of 1992 with Timothy having just graduated high school, and Tiffany in the 8th grade, they felt the Lord's call to step out in faith, make a move to Oklahoma, and begin a full-time ministry in what would become ... as had been THE SINGING THOMAS FAMILY.

bullet

The Singing Thomas Family name was changed to THOMAS FAMILY MINISTRIES in 1998 and the logo of the "TFM" and old style "Mic" would come about in 1999.  In the  "logo" with the Thomas Family Ministries over the piano and Rod & Barb under the piano was put into use.

bulletAfter having lived in Pauls Valley, OK for a year...they made a move to Maysville, OK where the ministry was based.  In 1996, Timothy married Libby Williams of Maysville and she joined the group full-time in the summer of 1998, after graduating from East Central University, Ada, OK.  That same fall, Tiffany would marry Bruce Little, of Ada, OK and they moved to Tennessee.

bulletJanuary 2001 began another change and transition in The Thomas Family Ministry as Timothy and Libby have felt led of the Lord to step out into their own ministry.  Barb and Rod continue to sing and travel, now as a duet, to their church-family all across the USA.
bullet
In August of 2004 Rod & Barb re-located their ministry to Pennsylvania and dropped the "Thomas Family Ministries" name and a name change was in order once again...this time, to what it was many years earlier (before the kids came along) to...  "Rod & Barb Thomas" - Music Ministry & Evangelistic Ministry

bulletThe Rod & Barb are members of First Baptist Church, Pauls Valley, OK and Rod is an ordained minister.   They know that the Lord has placed a call upon their lives to share His message of faith, forgiveness and love to all who will have "ears to hear".  Rod's ministerial call, and pastoral  work, allows them to sing His song as well as share God's message, in spoken form, when opportunity arises, as well as in their concerts as the groups spokesman.  A closing "time of invitation" is extended at most Rod & Barb Thomas Concerts...and they have been privileged to see many come to the Lord in salvation and re-commitment over the years.  This, is the most vital  part of what The Thomas Ministry is all about.

bulletThe blending of  voices is very important to Rod & Barb as they strive to be a "blessing and not just a blasting", but they also strive for a blending of the Spirit of God in the hearts and lives of those who would attend a concert of Worship and Praise, through Southern Gospel Music!
bulletTheir Music, their Message, and their Method is sometimes foot-tapp'in, hand-clapp'in, and flat-out laugh'in, yet, also, devotional, inspirational  and spiritual as they lift-up the glorious Name of all Names...Jesus Christ !
